Experience Based Learning

K - 12th
Provider: OpenEd Academy
Instructor-guided learning

Submit your experience based learning opportunity for review as an equivalent alternative for a 1 credit marketplace course. If approved, your student will collaborate with their teacher on meaningful reflections on learning facilitated in the Unrulr portfolio.

What to expect after learning experience approval:

Step 1: Create a course portfolio Using the engaging and flexible portfolio tool Unrulr, your academic counselor will help you create a new portfolio for your course. Together, you’ll record basic details including a course description, curriculum and instructor record, and student performance goals.

Step 2: Meet the supervising teacher Your academic counselor will arrange a time for you and your student to meet with the supervising teacher for the course. This is a great opportunity to clear up any questions and establish checkpoint expectations.

Step 3: Complete established checkpoints via the Unrulr course portfolio Our students are not standard, and neither are the checkpoints. We’ll listen to parents and students to establish meaningful checkpoints with valuable celebration opportunities. Our goal is to avoid busywork for parents, students, and teachers!

Step 4: Final review When your course portfolio is complete, your supervising teacher will complete a final review and submit a final course grade to be included on the OpenEd Academy transcript. You’ll receive confirmation of your transcripted credit from your academic counselor. All done!
