How OpenEd Works
Every family’s journey looks a little different — but here’s what you can expect when you join OpenEd.

Apply — It Only Takes 2 Minutes
Submit a quick application to reserve your child’s spot for our next cohort. Applying lets us know you’re interested, but it doesn’t lock you in — you’ll have time to explore OpenEd before making a final decision.
While you wait for enrollment to open, you can download our info guide or join a parent info session to ask questions and get a feel for how OpenEd might work for your family.

Enroll — Secure Your Child’s Spot for the Year
When the enrollment window officially opens, we’ll email you with access to the platform. From there, you’ll walk through a quick, guided checklist to complete your child’s enrollment. This is the step that secures your family’s spot for the program year.
Here’s an example of what we’ll ask you to provide:
- Household & Demographic Info
- Proof of residency
- Your child's birth certificate
- Immunization records or exemption forms
- Educational history
- Agreement to OpenEd policies
- An very simple outline of your child’s education plan
Once you submit your enrollment, our team reviews and approves your documents. You won’t need to do anything else unless we reach out with a quick clarification.
Access the Platform
Once your enrollment is approved, you’ll unlock your OpenEd dashboard. Inside, you’ll find everything in one place — your reimbursement wallet, your education plan builder, and our marketplace of 75+ trusted programs, clubs, and apps.
You’ll also see important program dates so you know exactly when to get started. From there, you can begin choosing resources, uploading receipts for reimbursement, and working with your mentor teacher to bring your child’s education plan to life.

Staying On Track
Each week, you’ll fill out a short learning log — just a quick check-in that takes a few minutes. Logs help you see steady progress and give your mentor teacher the context to support you. They also connect directly to your child’s education plan, showing what’s working and where you might want to adjust.
Partnering With Top Education Providers
Ongoing Support & Community
From here, you’re never on your own — and neither is your child.
Your Support Team
When you join OpenEd, you’ll have two dedicated professionals by your side:
- Your Family Success Manager helps you as the parent — guiding you through the OpenEd platform, solving challenges, and making sure you feel confident leading your child’s education.
- Your Child’s Teacher is their mentor and cheerleader — reviewing weekly learning logs, celebrating progress, and offering day-to-day teaching recommendations.
Your Community
Beyond your personal team, OpenEd connects you with a broader community. Parents can join groups to share resources and encouragement, while students take part in clubs, field trips, and virtual events that make learning social and fun. And if your child ever needs more focused help, one-on-one tutoring is always available.
