9th - 12th
Provider: BYU Independent Study
Instructor-guided learning

AP U.S. History, Part 2 explores the history of the United States from the late 1800s to the present. Topics include industrialization, America entering the world stage, World War I, the Great Depression and the New Deal, World War II, the Cold War, the turbulent 1960s, the crisis of authority in the 1970s, the Age of Reagan (1980s), and globalization. Students will practice writing essays and answering questions on core topics. This is the second course in a two-part series that prepares students to take the AP United States History exam. The BYU Independent Study course includes a separate must-pass final exam for course credit but does not administer the AP exam or include its fee in tuition. Students must arrange to take the AP exam at a local school using the AP Course Ledger; be aware many schools have an ordering deadline of November 15th.
