Scientific Discovery and Development

Scientific Discovery and Development explores the history of clinical laboratory science, tracing how clinical laboratories evolved and became professionalized alongside advances in biology. Students study the circulatory system, microbiology and its subfields, cells and tissues, cell division, and basic genetics. The course covers three major areas in bioresearch: biotechnology, nanotechnology, and pharmaceutical research and development. Over two dozen career fields are examined, including laboratory technicians, phlebotomists, and pathologist assistants.
