Learn about DNA in this hands-on series with Sara Phelps on Zoom!

This event is recommended for grades 3-10, but all are welcome to attend.

Recommended supplies for Part 1 (making a candy DNA model):

• 2 Twizzlers (or other rope type candy)
• 5 toothpicks
• Small candies such as gummy bears or marshmallows that come in 4 different colors (10 of each color)
• Paper and pen/pencil

Recommended supplies for Part 2 (extracting DNA from strawberries):

• Strawberries
• Warm water
• Salt
• Dish soap
• Rubbing alcohol
• Paper towel, coffee filter, or cheese cloth
• Cup or glass jar
• Plastic bag to squish strawberry
• Toothpick or skewer
