HIST 057: History of the American West

The discussion begins with exploration and colonization; moves to Texas and Oregon, the mining frontier, the cowboy, the farming frontier, and the impact of the military; and concludes with the continuing challenges of the American West. The course also explores the geography and the people that live there.
