Business and Information Technology, Part 2 of 2
Business and Information Technology is a two-semester course designed to focus on the foundational skills of business and information technology. Students will learn the concepts of entrepreneurship, marketing strategies, product design, digital citizenship, career exploration, and computer systems. They will also learn how to troubleshoot common computer issues, use software and applications to build spreadsheets, create business and marketing plans, and develop multimedia presentations. In addition, the course covers the differences between ethical and unethical uses of technology, reviewing career options and skills needed for success, and creating a career plan and electronic portfolio. The course will also teach students financial planning and consumer protection laws, as well as how to conduct a job search within the business and information technology industries and how to assess online resources for credibility. Through focused mini lessons, students will be introduced to durable skills such as metacognition and critical thinking, and they will have opportunities to practice and begin applying these skills in career-specific activities.
